Friday - December 3, 2004 Speaking of cars, Keith got some great shots of a couple of recent Autocross events in the area. Tuesday - November 30, 2004 I'm told this thing should be updated with a little more frequency, my bad. For those patiently awaiting the photos from Moroso and Jennings, I received good and bad news this morning...depending on where you were. They were able to save the Moroso shots, but there is physical damage to the disk where the Jennings photos are located, and it will take more time and cost more money for me to salvage those. I debated for a moment and asked them to go ahead and work on getting the Jennings shots. I was told they would call back Thursday with an update. Not much else to talk about. As mentioned on our Yahoo group, area businesses are closed for the off-season, so if you plan to ride at the Gap, bring your own gas or plan on long trips to the nearest fuel providers. There is still good weather in small windows, but the reduced traffic means more debris on the road...the leaves and particularly the pine needles near the north end can really pile up just outside the normal line you would run. Usually if I'm in the car I'll try to run through any lines of gravel in the road or pine needles to scatter things around and speed up the removal process. (hint hint car drivers) If you are jonesing for your Gap fix, now might be a good time to suggest the Tail of the Dragon DVDs to your loved ones as gift ideas. There's a little bit of everything on there, culminating with a full run through at the end of each DVD. Disc 1 ends with a run from multiple angles in the early 90s. There are no other bikes on the road during the entire run, and only a couple of cars. Disc 2 ends with me running through and 2 locals following, shot from the back seat of my bike looking backwards. It's hot. Tuesday - November 16, 2004 From our Yahoo Group: "Two good friends of mine were run over by an idiot Dennis Shepherd Thanks, Monday - November 15, 2004 200+ emails and 25 phone messages...woohoo. Appearantly the hard drive in the laptop died yesterday. All of the shots from Moroso, and most of the shots from Jennings are on there. Now it looks like I'll have to send the HD to a data recovery service to see what we can salvage. I created some place-holders in the store and I'll get those online as soon as possible. I'm off to answer emails then work on orders. (REALLY behind) Thursday - November 4, 2004 Wow, a bike powered by chainsaw motors. Tomorrow we are off to Florida for 10 days to shoot trackdays in West Palm Beach this weekend and Jennings the following. Y'all behave and no parties! Thursday - November 4, 2004 Well the response to my comments about the lane crossing thing last week have been 100% in agreement. We had a very productive discussion over in our Yahoo Group and several excellent solutions were proposed. We'll work on something this winter, I'll keep ya informed. We did not shoot any at Deal's Gap last weekend. I shot trackdays at Carolina Motorsports Park for STT, and Keith did the Halloween thing with his kid. Here come the highlights... Cynthia is always a character...she found a mohawk to better express her wild streak. The front straight made it tough for the 2-strokes to hold their own, but man they'd kill ya in the turns. It was a crash-fest, but no serious injuries. TurnOne-inator took out most riders, including our crash truck driver George. I think the umbrella is missing the girl - George pulls a trailer pulling a trailer with his new mobile STATE. Ron and Nancy supplied a complimentary spaghetti dinner Saturday....how awesome is that! - Rob and Lori dressed up for trickin' and treatin'. GapJedi it is - Keith, his son Gavin, and Charity decked out for Halloween You can leave comments on these photos in the Imagestation album here. Rich Byer hooked me up with an alternate link to the Honda Hawk running the super-tight course here. (right-click, Save As...) Thanks bro! [Correction: I've been informed that this is a video of a VFR 400, not a Honda Hawk] |
