Friday - September 24, 2004 We made it back from Vegas. We didn't exactly plan that last day very well, and ended up staying awake for 26 hours in a row, the final 13 flying and driving, so when we got home Wednesday afternoon, we hit the sack and slept for 17 hours! It was fun but I wouldn't want to live there. If they call this area "God's Country" then that's Devil's Country over there. It's beautiful, but in a dry, baren, nothing-can-thrive-here kinda way. It wasn't that hot, more windy...in fact, the wind made me cry a little while I was trying to shoot...it was very touching. Vegas may be the city that never sleeps, but they sure like to shut it down when the wind blows. We went to see the fountains at Bellagio...closed. Volcano at Mirage...closed. Eiffel tower at Paris...closed. Stratosphere space needle...you guessed it. Hell, even Death Valley was closed. What is that about? It's like saying that hell is closed...I mean, I don't expect everything to be "presentable" there...it's Death Valley. Jesus. Femmoto went pretty good though. Saturday was a little warm, but Sunday was borderline chilly. There were no major incidents. Kawasaki and Aprilia brought out the demo bikes and a few got dropped, more Kawis I think, but they were great sports and it was awesome that everyone got a chance to try some different bikes on something besides a showroom floor. We'll move along to the highlights now. One of my favorite shots - Lori tried a Kawi Z1000 and fell in love with it. Bonnie introduces Monte to the masses - Group Photo! AMA racer Jessica Zalusky - Even the track director is female Jay and Lisa from Motorcycle Leather Exchange Aprilia and Kawasaki brought the toys - Robert from Aprilia rockin' the scoot Neale got to test a NCR Millona - 1000cc V-twin, 263 pounds dry - 1 of 1 in the US. Hard to tell from this side shot, but he was pretty sideways - Nikki tests a ZZR 1200 Smokin' knee puck! - A few of these mini tornados came close, but none ever crossed the track. Even the kids were getting in on the biking On to some scenery...this sign cracked me up. - Here's a water heater and a toaster if anyone needs one. Road to Death Valley.
