Sunday - August 1, 2004 Well it was pretty dead Friday and Saturday. I shot 400 photos Friday and about 500 Saturday. I went ahead and sorted/uploaded them to the store here. There are a few sweet shots in there, but I don't have time to do a highlights show right now. I never saw any cops, but they could still roll in Sunday I gues. We are leaving today to head to Road Atlanta for STTs trackday there Monday. This will be our first time shooting Road Atlanta, and STT's first trackday there...should be interesting. We are staying over Tuesday and hitting Six Flags while we're right there by it. We've been trying to find time to get down there for 2 years now, and those crazy dancing old guy commercials sealed the deal. We'll have some highlights from the whole endeavor online later on in the week. Thursday - July 29, 2004 Well sorting the Miata photos by color took a little long. We played around with long shutter speeds last weekend, as per request. I think they turned out pretty sweet...not as much detail as before, but lots of motion. The shots from last weekend are uploading into our store right now. Of course we have some highlights below, but first we'll talk a little bit. That's the format here. The Miata kids seemed to have a great rally, and did a good job at sharing the road and staying in their lane. I'm sure there are stories to the contrary, but I'm just going on what I saw. TNHP sent TEN units out Saturday to patrol our 9 mile section of Hwy 129. Do the math. They didn't really hassle anyone much that I know of. I heard they issued a couple of minor tickets...one for crossing the yellow, one for reversing on the highway. (deserved) I have a feeling that people who stop and/or reverse in the middle of a US Hwy are beyond my cosmic rant power. Also late Saturday a tractor trailer wanted to see if he had anything on those Miatas so he made a pass. A Miata got in front of him early to give escort (Thank You!) and Ron chased with camcorder running to get a spectacular video. About 4 miles into his 12 mile journey through hell, he blew a tire by hitting a large rock in the ditch. The impact also appeared to damage his suspension and/or shift his load inside the trailer. The rest of the way down he was rubbing the tires on the trailer and about to tip over. By the time he got to the bottom, smoke was rolling from all axles. Unfortunately the state boys were gone by this time, but he did drive past 2 counties, one of which had to take evasive maneuvers during a pursuit to avoid the big rig. These things are allowed pass through the 318 turns several times a day during the week and create this chaos every time. To quote the commercial: "Welcome to Crazyworld". I've been told there is an blurb in the Knoxville newspaper stating TNHP will be conducting license checks on US129 this weekend. I have no idea why they would advertise this, but there ya go. Miatas. Cops. Miatas at Fontana Dam - Escorting the Semi Some looked pretty good - Some, not so much. Last of the Miata shots My boy David brought his garden gnome all the way from New York. There were some bikes out too. Cruisin...CHiPs style. - I don't think she's going to make it. Great sparky shot! - Appearantly he just came from the gynecologists' office. =) Shorts, T-shirt, Temp tags, and white line. Nice. - Who makes that one? Hardcore touring! Our T-Rex friend passed through again. 1.9 Lateral G and still can't keep it in your lane...come on baby. Well that's about it. There are a few more shots in this week's Imagestation photo album. See ya next week! |
