7-8-03

We were not at Deals Gap during the July 4th weekend. If anyone wants to fill us in on what all went down, drop me a line.

We did attend the VIR trackday hosted by Sportbike Track Time. One would assume that traveling north results in cooler weather. One would assume wrongly. It was about 170 degrees Friday and Saturday. Sunday the breeze picked up and it cooled down to only 150.

I hadn't been to the South track before. I had heard some groaning as it was considered a small track. I was topping 130 down the front straight on Ron's Mille. I clocked Jacob at 145. Not bad for a small track. It has some of the most devious turns I have ever seen. Cresting braking zones, downhille cork-screw, and a shaded turn with a barrier on the inside that will remind you of some blind turn on the Gap. Pretty rockin' little track.

Mornings Monte had everyone laughing as they tried to wake up.

Jacob makes a new friend

Tarheel BMW club was on the North course

Cornerworkers did a nice job flagging any accidents

The South course has some nice elevation changes, and a long front straight

There were some nice bikes too, like these demo Aprilias.
