*Notice* I am swamped with orders like never before. Please be patient folks...keep in mind that each order is a custom created product made just for you, and most event photographers charge around $20-40 per digital image. June was a crazy busy month, as I expected. After shooting the Cherohala Challenge bicycle event, our first Barber trackday, and Honda Hoot, things have been nuts. Last weekend we shot the Virginia trackdays, then got asked to stay over Monday and shoot a car group that was running the whole track, so we stayed and did that as well. Got home last night and the storms had knocked the power out, and by the time I got rolling on things this morning I had 114 emails. (!) So there's an explanation of what's going on...no excuses, just letting you know what's taking so long. ;-) Wednesday - July 7, 2004 Great weekend at Virginia International Raceway. We didn't shoot any at the Gap, but we heard it was pretty wet around the area anyway. The high temps are always an issue during the July 4th VIR events, but Saturday was pretty reasonable and overcast. Sunday was a scorcher though. No crash shots this time...there were a few get-offs, but only one was near me and he was going about 100mph when it happened behind me, so by the time I got turned around, all I got shots of was grass and sparks. I did get some killer action shots though, I really had a great weekend of shooting. I got out and rode a few sessions on Sunday...I love VIR South...it has some of the scariest turns and hills of any track short of Road Atlanta and Laguna Seca. Our lead instructor, Mark Sheldon, was hitting 160+ down the long front straight. Next month we do a VIR full course on Monday, August 23rd. I'm not sure I've got the balls for those speeds...I think I'll just take pitchurz. =) Gap local Zack rockin' the Mille - Gap local Nancy rockin' the Tuono. A gaggle of STT instructors Monkey Boi needs a sidecar! - Lori puts the pass on a lost rider. Lead instructor Mark Sheldon shows us why this is his favorite track - Tire changer Geoff on his new (to him) bike. Crash truck (BMW X5) owner George gets it down with one hand - Rob couldn't keep the front end down with both hands! That guy's got a nice lens - This shot on the right is my favorite background Here's a bike you probably haven't seen yet. MZ has a new sportbike, and this is one of two in the US. Neale Bayly was testing it for a possible magazine article. Keep your eyes peeled for our shots. ;-) I also shot a trackday for TracQuest.com Monday. Here are some highlights. Instructor: "Here, let me help you with that wheel." - The yellow car was called a "Radical". I can't imagine why. Sweet Ferrari - Sweeter Viper. Damn Mustangs, always smokin' up the place. =) Lowenbrau? Are they still in business? Well until next time, keep the shiney side up. We should be around the Gap this weekend. I'm hoping to have the shots from VIR sorted and uploaded before then. We are sorting them by individual bikes this time, so it will take much longer but it will be easier for you guys to find your shots. |
