We were not at Deal's Gap last weekend...sorry folks.

We had a chance to shoot Barber for the first time so we had to go do that...plus Lori and I got to ride it. =) We had never been to Barber before, but everyone sings the praises of that place, so I had pretty high expectations...which can be bad. I was not disappointed. They covered bases that no one ever thought about before. The landscaping and sculptures just give you the impression that they were having a fun time when designing this facility. The track is like a roller coaster ride, and the surroundings are tastefully playful.

The spectator areas are refreshingly well thought-out. We've been to tracks, VIR North comes to mind, where it is as if the organizers are trying to hide the action from outsiders...some sort of spy facility maybe. Barber has acres of banked grassy areas, many shaded by thick patches of trees, which give excellent elevated views of the action.

Okay, enough jibber-jabber, on to the pictures!

A couple of track shots.

The 45-foot wide track gave you plenty of room to try different lines.

Coreen and Carol from Ducati Women show the boys how it's done.

A couple of the sculptures...the gigantic spider in the middle of a "web" of shrubbery is pretty famous, so here a few different ones.

Top this endo! This guy got tossed from his SV like a cowboy. Hopped back on that sucker and rode it off too. Hardcore baby!

This is Greg. This is Greg's lap timer mid-lap.

Lori sports one of our new shirts while getting a knee down on our electric pocket bike, (Wal-Mart - $183) then does a few laps on one of the Aprilia demo Tuonos.

Smile for the camera! George explains "that one place" on the track.

Don't we both look psycho! I tell Lori she's number one.

This is the 5-story Barber museum. They have bikes and cars there...mostly bikes though.

Over 600 vehicles in rotation keeps it interesting for return visits.

This week is Honda Hoot and SVC Mustang rally, so we'll be pretty busy shooting Wed-Sat.  Keith's camera kicked the bucket at Barber, so he picked up a second ($1,500) camera like I had to recently so he would be able to shoot while the other is being repaired. I also recently picked up a new lens so rest assured the money you guys and gals are sending our way is being put to good use. ;-)
