Wednesday - April 28, 2004

Tomorrow's my sister's birthday. She's the coolest.

Last weekend was much more enjoyable for all the tourists and enthusiasts of the area since the state boys were not out picking on everyone. The big Cherokee motorcycle rally was going on, and there was plenty of chrome and wind deflectors to show for it. (I even picked one up out of the road...wind deflector that is) Hayabusa.org and BMW R1150R "Beakster Bash" had their little events also. This week we get the Mini Coopers and Homeland Sportbikes.com

The (5000+) shots from last weekend are being uploaded into the store...or hung up again...I can't really check on it until tomorrow. In the mean time, here are a few highlights from the complete selection of highlights.

Stuff sticking out of windows...

Some people come prepared for ANYthing!

Trike-age

Sweet cages

Nice plates

Complete. Opposites.

WEEEEEEE!!!

This guy on the black Goldwing was later run off the road by a truck that was in his lane. His bike ended up going over a drop off, busting the case. It was his only transportation and he was here from Arizona...but the speed limit...yeah, that's the real problem!

Man you never know what you'll see at the Gap

Some folks have the worst luck =(

Nice!

Jacob rails. I film.

One dude went down at the top of the hill in front of the hotel. ("Wheelie Hell") He was conscience but had possible neck injuries, so they flew him out. He was released the following day and is home fine...a little sore maybe. Y'all be careful on cold tires.

I gotta say something here. You know, while we're out there shooting, we try to get shots of everything around us worth seeing...sort of showing you guys more of what goes on than just the bikes and cars going by.

If there is an accident and we hear about it, we don't go chasing after it for a few reasons. One, there are usually people standing around with cameras there anyway, and two, it's not good business sense. With the frequency of minor accidents, we would spend all day running to the next accident scene and wouldn't get those shots our customers want.

If something pertaining to an accident comes to us, we are going to shoot that. It is beneficial for everyone, even me since I ride, to be reminded how dangerous this road can be. Fewer crashes mean less heartbreak, less bad press, and less police.

I put everything we shoot in our store. It makes it easier on me, and easier on you to have everything in one place. I don't intend to sell those "Odd Shots", but I can't change the pricing on them because they are part of a single "Event" on Photoreflect and everything in that event has to share the same pricing structure.

So for anyone who thinks I'm trying to make money from crash shots, step back, and turn your brain to the on position. Who is going to pay for a picture of a roll-back tow truck with a mangled bike on it? Those Odd Shots are just something of interest that caught our attention so we shot it. It doesn't cost us anything extra, and it documents a piece of what happened that weekend....and who knows, maybe it'll keep someone from wadding up their bike next time and breaking their momma's heart. (i love my momma)

Now, who's going to snag that awesome turkey shot!? =)
