Ok the shots from weekend BEFORE last, April 17th at Deal's Gap are in the store. Turns out we had a single corrupt image file that was hanging the upload every time. We've sorted last weekend's truckload of shots and I'll be uploading those today. Check back soon for the update...

Friday - April 23, 2004

What a day. I'll have those photos from last Saturday uploaded tomorrow, come hell or high water. I had them ready to upload tonight, but didn't make it back home in time. (I have to take the laptop to nearby Snowbird Lodge to use their highspeed internet access) Here's what went down today -

Cherokee motorcycle rally kicked off. There were tons of touring bikes and cruisers easing through the Gap. We had a couple of minor drops, nothing to bring out the EMS. Blount county sheriff was nearby most of the day, but didn't bother anyone that I know of.

Half way through the day, one of the 2 memory cards for my camera died. Left without much choice, I ran over to Staples in Maryville and bought a new card. ($ ugh $) Get back and the battery in my car dies! I'm on the bike, Lori drove the car, so I run down to Tapoco Lodge and got some jumper cables from one of the nice waitresses. Try to jump the car, no luck. Figuring there is something majorly screwed up with the car, I have to leave Lori on the side of the road and run back to the house, get a car to put all the gear in so we can leave it on the side of the road overnight until we figure something out. I grab the jumper pack we have here just in case... Get back to the car, Lori is still sitting there like a trooper...I plug the jumper pack onto the battery and it starts right up. Turns out the jumper cables were bad, and the battery is still bad, but at least we got the car home....at 9pm.

Ah well, tomorrow's another day...see y'all out there!

Photos from Talladega trackdays are online.

The whole police situation went pretty much as predicted, and has been covered by Dragaknee.com and TailoftheDragon.com Chris shot the Gap Saturday, and his photos are in the mail on the way to me, so I'll have those online around Friday.

Talladega was awesome. The weather was nearly perfect...a little warm for some. Several Gap regulars were there and looked like they grew up on a track, even the first timers. It's pretty amazing what that road can teach you.
