Ok I know I said we'd have some pictures from last Sunday, but I ended up shooting a lot of sick video for Ron and Nancy's next DVD project. The conditions were perfect and lots of riders and drivers came out to get their juices flowing for the new season. I did have a few close calls with riders in my lane, and thinking back it seems like the beginning of the season last year was the same way...lots of bad riding until the bad riders crash out, then things settle down a bit.

Saturday - February 28, 2004

Someone farted.

We drove through the Gap about 1:30 today and counted 27 motorcycles. Got home, changed, hopped on the bikes and by the time we got back to the Gap about 3:00 it was purdy dead. A group of cars came through running a good pace...mostly Mustang Cobras with a PIMP Supra, ACR Viper, and tricked-out Infinity G35 for variety.

My front tire was bald, but I managed to have some fun and hang out with locals and the car crowd a bit. I hit Wheeler's on the way back for a front tire and he had me in and out in about 10 minutes...dude should work for a pit crew. He's planning to ride Sunday.

The CRoT Store/Gas Station is open for those who may need gas...or refreshments. We'll be on the Gap tomorrow...I plan on taking some pictures this time, and Ron and Nancy's videographer friend will be around shooting some additional video for their next DVD. Hope to see you out there!

Friday - February 27, 2004

Ron and Nancy went across the Gap today and said it was salt-free. They are forecasting Sunday to be sunny and 65. Several of my friends and I should be out there.

My buds Ben and Zee pointed out a webcam at Look Rock on the Foothills Parkway. This camera is about 10 miles from the southern end of Deal's Gap. Should make a great referrence for a quick weather check.

Thursday - February 26, 2004

It's sleeting...supposed to snow about a foot. Bummer too, because the Gap was getting pretty clean and this weekend was looking nice. I'm sure it's covered with granulated condiment now.

We hit Nashville last Saturday for a Monster Truck/Lawnmower Race/Dirtbike Freestyle event, then played some paintball Sunday. It was a good weekend, here's the proof:

Lawnmower racing was cool. They even had a Monster Lawnmower.

Freestyle Motocross...complete with backflip.

I played paintball.

We still concentrate on Gap shots, just hasn't been much to shoot lately.
This precarious rockslide-waiting-to-happen is at the entrance of Tapoca Lodge.

How about a hi-res shot from the Moroso trackday we did a couple weeks ago.

Not much happening...the calm before the storm I suppose. The road surface was good the last time we passed through the Gap a few days ago. There were a few small spots of salt left over, but it has rained pretty hard a couple of times since.

We started a Deal's Gap community over at Yahoo Groups. The group was started because the Deal's Gap mailing list is dying soon, and many subscribers wanted a place to continue communicating by mail, so there are already several members. The group also has some cool interactive features like photo albums, polls, calendar, etc. Come check us out.
