Shots from Moroso & 2003 available here! Thursday - February 19, 2004 How about a hi-res shot from the Moroso trackday we did a couple weeks ago. Not much happening...the calm before the storm I suppose. The road surface was good the last time we passed through the Gap a few days ago. There were a few small spots of salt left over, but it has rained pretty hard a couple of times since. We started a Deal's Gap community over at Yahoo Groups. The group was started because the Deal's Gap mailing list is dying soon, and many subscribers wanted a place to continue communicating by mail, so there are already several members. The group also has some cool interactive features like photo albums, polls, calendar, etc. Come check us out. Monday - February 9, 2004 Back from Florida. I've never been that far into Florida...it was like an foreign country...with an evil genius in control of the weather. We walked around the whole time in tshirts, running the air condition half the time. We went down a day early and hit Daytona Beach at about 1am. We finally got a room at 3am. There was some big Nascar event, don't that figure, so all the places were either booked or running sky-high prices. We rang several buzzers at places with vacancy and signs saying "Yes We're Open" with no answer at the door before finally settling in at the spectacular Thunderbird hotel. So here's the Neon on Daytona Beach...and some girl wearing a killboy.com tshirt. Saturday. West Palm Beach. Wow...these people own the ocean. If you can find a way onto the beach, you're either a boy scout, or a criminal. The Moroso track is a pretty large road course that surrounds a drag strip, and you can see the influence of the drag strip in the layout. There are several straights seperated by tight left-right chicanes...so it's almost like a series of drag races each lap. There is a flowing section with a fun decreasing radius, and another hard decreasing radius at the other end. (turn 1-2) Most riders new to the track, myself included, didn't seem to like it at first, but it was tolerable by the end of the day. The pavement has been patched in places and it forces you to run ususual lines, but once you figure it out, not so bad. Ron and Nancy also put together a track report with photos over here. So ok, enough talking...here are some pitchurz: This guy was railing...probably the fastest rider there. This cat (red bike) had Deals Gap stickers. He was riding strong as well....the head and shoulders could get in there a little more maybe. We were waiting for this dude to fall off. =P Great riding though! Another impressive rider, Mark Hubinger on his BMW K12 Lots of ladies, which is getting common for SBTT events. Even Nikki from 1fastchick.com (*cough*updateyourwebsite!*cough* =) made her instructing debut. Some guys worked on "other" skills. =) This crash at the exit of a decreasing radius only brought out the yellow. Novice class riders. The rest... |
